Special feature : Evolving copper Vol.4
Globally expanding the potential of copper processing
Luvata Oy acquires the UK-based Dawson Shanahan Group
Luvata, a Mitsubishi Materials Group company, has acquired the UK-based Dawson Shanahan Group. This group possesses advanced engineering technology for copper and other metals used in various industries, including healthcare, automotive, and renewable energy, and manufactures precision processing products.

Luvata Group’s President and CEO
Pekka Kleemola
The Dawson Shanahan Group was acquired with the aim of accelerating our response to the fast growing demand in Europe for high-purity and high-conductivity copper components for xEVs (electric vehicles). As the transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to xEVs progresses globally, the demand for high-precision finished copper products is anticipated to grow over the medium to long term. This acquisition will enable us to optimize sales activities for common customers in Europe, and we can expect technical and production synergies through the sharing of cold forming and machining technologies possessed by both companies. To meet the growing demand for copper products, Luvata Group will focus on e-mobility, electrification, and green transition sectors as key growth drivers, continuing to explore future growth opportunities, including investments in these markets. Going forward, we will leverage our Group’s expertise and strengths to offer solutions through high-quality copper products, thus paving the way towards being the Global First Supplier.
